Create a new future for our planet!
The KUAS Faculty of Bioenvironmental Sciences (KUAS Bio) emphasizes life, environment, food science, and agriculture to create a future in which all life forms can coexist. KUAS Bio consists of two departments: the Department of Environmental and Bioresource Sciences, where students learn about ecosystems, environmental analysis, resource recycling and crop cultivation, and the Department of Applied Biological Sciences, where students explore molecules, cells, genes and organic chemistry.
The 231,764㎡ KUAS Kameoka Campus is home to the Faculty of Bioenvironmental Sciences, which includes full-scale laboratories, fields for growing crops, and a forest ideal for observing and investigating nature. The Bioenvironmental Sciences Program focuses on gaining hands-on experience at these facilities. Students can acquire in-depth practical training in the surrounding wildlife without leaving campus.
KUAS Bio's capstone focuses on collaborative research. Students work with external companies, research institutions, and other departments to conduct research on their selected topics. This allows students to gain progressive knowledge and growth not only from within one laboratory, but from a variety of researchers, making their research more advanced and practical. This accumulated experience will pave the way for the student’s success in their career after graduation.
KUAS also provides all international students with intensive Japanese language courses to broaden their future career paths at no additional cost. After acquiring Japanese language proficiency, students can also take classes conducted in Japanese. By studying with Japanese students and engaging in cultural exchange, students can deepen their knowledge and interpersonal skills and increase their employment options.
