We would like to inform our users that an error has been found regarding the character count of full-width spaces.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you.

Error Details

Whenever a full-width space is entered in a field, it is counted as one character (it is not shown in the character count found on the bottom right side of the field, but the system counts it as one character)

*Note: All spaces (full-width and half-width) are not supposed to be counted as one character

Fields subject to this error

All fields that have a character limit on the applicant page, recommender/requestee page, and the university administrator page

*Note: Fields with a character limit have "Length of characters:0/(value)" written on the bottom right side of the field.

To all users who have already submitted their application

*Please disregard this notification since no action is required. *

To users who have trouble saving their documents due to this error

Users who are using full-width spaces in the field AND have written up to the character limit in the same field might have trouble saving their document due to this error.
Please use half-width spaces instead of full-width spaces in order to save properly.

Current Status

We are currently working on fixing this error as top priority.

We will notice all users as soon as it is fixed.

【Before change】

All spaces (half-width and full-width) and line breaks are counted as 1 character



【After change】

All spaces (half-width and full-width) and line breaks are NOT counted as 1 character

We would like to inform our users that there will be an update to the "Messages" function on TAO to improve usability.

This update is scheduled to go into effect on or after July 17, 2023.

All users with an applicant account on TAO are subject to this notification.

Before Update:

Users are able to filter their messages by "All Messages""Incoming Messages""Outgoing Messages" from the pull-down menu

After Update:

All messages will be shown by default, and the pull-down will not be displayed.

After this update comes to effect, users will be able to find all filtering functions at the top of the "Messages" page.

If necessary, please use the "status" filter which can be found at the top right corner of the page.



We will notify users again once the update is completed.
